The problem of saving, and more precisely how to start and what we can do for it, concerns a large group of people. In general, we have the impression that in the current financial situation which we are saving even the smallest amount is impossible, because we already have a modest lifestyle, so there is nothing to save on.

Loans, rising living costs or unexpected expenses, such as a broken car, mean that we give up saving plans, and what we have saved so far is spent on current needs. Let’s, however, consider our daily schedule in detail, because even in everyday activities we make mistakes, through which we unwittingly spend more.

How to save money on food?

Thanks to a few simple ways, which we will discuss below, we will be able to change it without rigorous “tightening the belt”, and our financial situation will improve significantly, without having to lower our standard of living.

Let’s start with shopping. How many times has it happened that while in the store you reached for products you didn’t really need? Promotions, colorful labels or “buy two pay less” packages mean that we often leave the store with a bag of things that we would not normally buy.

How to change that? First of all, when planning a visit to the store, let’s make a shopping list. In our place of residence, we can calmly think about what products we need and what we will use without being exposed to external stimuli in the form of flashy promotions.

Remember to never shop when hungry

We do not think reasonably then, and products in our basket land for which we have a whim, but we do not need them at all, which is why we spend more than we should.

Another marketing trick we are exposed to by food producers are promotions, where we will pay less when buying a larger package or product with an expiring date. We often reach for such products thinking that thanks to this we save, unfortunately it is the opposite. Most often these are products for which the demand is reduced, i.e. they are not necessary for everyday life, thus buying this product we put it at home in the cabinet and forget that it is there, and when we reach for it, we realize that The expiry date has long since passed, so the product ends up in the trash and we lose money.

Choosing the store in which we shop is also very important. Prices in individual stores, of course, can be radically different, so it’s worth looking at their offers before leaving and choosing the store that has the best price offer.

The last way we can save money is to get food ready for work. Finished products, such as sandwiches or salads offered in shops or vending machines located in companies cost much more than the products from which they are made. Instead of buying a ready-made product, let’s prepare it at home before work, it will cost us a little effort, but on a week, month or year basis we will notice a difference in savings.

How to save money in the bank?

Banks, which should mainly serve saving often charge fees for the services they provide. So it is worth comparing the offer of several of them and decide on one that will meet our expectations, but does not charge any fees, e.g. account maintenance or transfers. Online rankings will help us choose the right bank, where it compares the offers of various banks. The cheapest and most attractive will be at the forefront and it is their services that should be used.

Some banks offer moneyback programs. It is a program consisting in returning to the customer a percentage of money spent for e.g. card payments. It is worth checking and using this service, because thanks to it we can save up to several dozen zlotys a month.

Banks also offer various facilities to their clients, for which, unfortunately, they charge fees. SMS notifications, small sums withdrawals at ATMs – all this is associated with additional costs. By abandoning them, we can save a small amount on a scale of e.g. a week, but every year it will be several dozen to several hundred zlotys, which makes a difference.
